Applicant Jailed For 12 months in Markurdi (See what he did)

     On Thursday, a Markurdi Magistrates court sentenced a 31-year old applicant, Gideon Chubu for impersonating a soldier and duping a police officer of #40,000
   Gideon was arrainged on a two-court charge, impersonating and duping,punishable under the benue state's law, section 326 of the penal code law,2004.
    He(Gideon) pleaded for guilty and asked the court for leniency which made Mrs Lilian Tsumba sentenced him to twelve months imprisonment.
  The magistrate,mrs tsumba said the sentence would be as a deterrent to others because she notice the convict has no record of previous convictions.He was also asked to pay back the money he fraudulently collected from the policeman.
   Insp. Gabriel Agbadu who happens to be the prosecutor told the magistrate court that one cpl.Elija ikwe of 13 mobile force, Markurdi reported the matter at C,police division ,Markurdi on Nov 6.
   Elija ikwe said that he met Gideon at wurukum roundabout Makurdi where he(Gideon) introduced himself as a soldier under the chief of defence staff, Abuja.
Ikwe also said that he deceived him that he would his brother enlisted among the Nigerian army.
It was later discovered that he was scam and he(Gideon) converted the money for his personal use. The prosecutor added that Gideon confessed to the crime after when he was been interrogated.
